George and Sue Ann Huger
The Southern Inn Restaurant was established in Lexington, Virginia in 1932 by George Macheras. In 1998, George Huger, a graduate of The Baltimore Culinary Institute, and his wife Sue Ann purchased the restaurant and relocated their young family to George’s hometown to start a new adventure.
With some “blood, sweat, and tears”, the Huger’s gave the restaurant an updated look and modern new menu.
On July 8, 2010, the restaurant was nearly destroyed by a fire caused by a lightning strike.. With the support of family, friends, and the community, the Huger’s repaired and remodeled the restaurant and re-opened in 2011,
The Hugers hope for many more chapters yet to come.
